Chesster was a Maine Coon kitten we bought for Rusty for his 12th birthday. For weeks afterward, Rusty kept telling me how Chesster was the best present he’d ever gotten, and my mom-heart swelled with joy at having brought such happiness into my son’s life. And then Chesster got sick. It turned out that he had FIP, and now I had to tell my little boy that his beloved cat was going to die. I’m sure you can imagine the heartbreak we endured together over the next few months, so I won’t burden you with it here.
After taking Anne deMille Flood‘s class on doing portraits of cats, I decided to tackle one on my own. Chesster was the obvious choice.
